Privacy Policy
1. What information Tumbly handles
Tumbly is a logbook app for tracking infant care. You may enter the following information about your baby:
- Feedings (timing, type, duration, amount, side, bottle contents, optional notes)
- Diapers (timing, contents, optional notes)
- Sleep sessions (start, end, optional notes)
- Pumping sessions (timing, duration, amount, side, optional notes)
- Growth measurements (weight, length, head circumference, source)
- Doctor visit notes (date, title, free-text notes)
- Your baby's name and birth date
- An optional photo you choose from your Photo Library
2. Where your data is stored
All entries are saved into a private database inside your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit service. Tumbly does not operate any server that receives, copies, or has access to your records. Apple secures and syncs your iCloud data the same way it does for Notes, Reminders, Health, and Photos.
If you sign out of iCloud or have iCloud unavailable, your data remains stored locally on your device only.
3. Sharing a baby with another person
You can invite a co-parent, grandparent, or caregiver to share a baby with you. This uses Apple's CloudKit sharing: the invitation is sent through iMessage, Mail, or another share method you choose, and the other person sees the data inside their own copy of Tumbly. Apple manages the share record; Tumbly never sees a list of who is sharing with whom.
4. AI features run on your device
Tumbly uses Apple's on-device "Apple Intelligence" Foundation Models to:
- Transcribe voice into structured log entries
- Answer questions you ask about your baby's recent activity
- Write the narrative summary on the Pediatrician Brief
- Generate the optional Baby Profile card
All of these calls run locally on your iPhone. Tumbly does not send your data to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other AI provider. Apple's on-device model processes the input and returns the result without any of it leaving your device.
5. Voice and microphone
When you tap the microphone button, Tumbly uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to transcribe what you say. Audio is processed locally and is not stored. The transcript is used only to fill in the log entry and is discarded when you save or cancel.
6. Notifications
If you opt in, Tumbly may schedule local notifications to remind you about a likely next feeding time. These are scheduled and delivered by iOS on your device. No notification content passes through a Tumbly server.
7. Purchases
If you choose to unlock Tumbly Pro, the transaction is handled by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Tumbly only receives a verified confirmation from StoreKit that the purchase was successful; we do not receive your name, email, billing address, card information, or Apple ID. Refund requests are handled by Apple directly.
8. Analytics and tracking
Tumbly contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs. We do not measure how often you open the app, which screens you view, or which features you use. We rely on aggregated, anonymized App Store metrics provided by Apple for downloads and crashes only.
9. Children's data
Tumbly is intended to be used by a parent or caregiver to track their own infant's care. The information about an infant is provided and controlled by the adult user. Because Tumbly does not have a server, no infant data is ever transmitted to or held by Tumbly. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
10. Your rights and control
- View and edit: Every entry can be edited or deleted in the app.
- Export: Settings → Export Data produces a CSV of every record.
- Delete: Settings → Delete Baby and All Data removes everything from your device. iCloud propagates the deletion to your other devices and to anyone sharing with you.
- Sign out: Signing out of iCloud severs Tumbly's ability to sync; deleting the app removes the local copy.
11. Disclaimers
Tumbly is a logbook, not medical advice. It cannot diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or replace your pediatrician. If you have concerns about your baby's health, contact a qualified healthcare professional.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in the app on next launch.
